U18 Girls celebrate continued progress with a Bronze, competing in their 1st Premier tournament.
This is a truly remarkable achievement given their path since this team started where, aside from one overlooked payer, none had competed in a Premier event. In January 2016, they were still competing in Trillium, in February, 50th, and finished 2016 Provincials in 18th place. The Club's 2016/17 campaign began with essentially the exact same players and have now progressed through Championship, and now a Bronze in Premier - this by far the greatest development for any team.
Further to this, we are the smallest and least experienced team. The only teams to defeat us convincingly on Saturday were the two most amalgamated teams (a forever growing and common theme) where players scramble for U18 honours. We are happy to have no part of this type of growth and development, where loyalty seems to have been all but erased. If we can stay healthy, we will work hard & attempt to close the gap on these teams, and who knows what may happen. If the cards are kind and Lady luck smiles upon us...
On paper, we have no right to be competitive at all. However, we believe a great story from the old book involving D v G opens the door for debate! We will continue to improve, have no pressure, and what will be will be.
