Another weekend of Ontario Championships is now in the books!
Congratulations to our 18U Upanga for their silver medal finish in D3T1. This team entered the weekend ranked 10th in the division and got off to rocky start on Day 1, ending Friday pool play with a 1-2 record. It was full steam ahead from there, going a perfect 3-0 on Saturday and playing a three-set thriller in the gold medal match on Sunday evening against a strong Stratford Stingers team. By far, the best collection of matches this team played all season and it couldn’t have come at a better time.
Our 17U Isihlangu also participated in the 18U OC’s in D2T1 over the weekend. Day 1 also ended for the Ishies with a 1-2 record, followed by a 3-0 record in Power Pools on Saturday. Sunday got off to a good start with a win over the Jr. Gryphons but ended abruptly as eventual D2T1 champs Northern Chill outlasted our girls in the quarters.
Up Next: The final weekend of Ontario Championships for 2024 sees our four 15U teams compete in Ottawa for a chance at a medal. Good luck to all!
