The final Finals are final!
April 25-27 marked the last Ontario Championships for Lakeside Volleyball Club for the 2023-24 season. Our four 15U teams hit the courts in Ottawa and had a lot of success over the three days. A couple of sets of hardware and some great play by all teams put a bow on a fun and exciting season.
Walezi: Earned a D2T1 gold medal for their efforts by taking out a number of solid teams along the way. They out-duelled and out-lasted their opponents consistently throughout their playoff run which culminated in a convincing two-set win in their gold medal match versus Ottawa Valley Knights (17 and 16) to secure top honours in D2.
Sjambok: A well deserved D6T1 gold medal for this squad. Overcoming some adversity towards the end of the season, the team collectively put their heads down for the final three days, sweeping their matches on Day 2 and running the table on Day 3 to win D6.
Billao: Played some fantastic volleyball throughout the OC’s, and were only a couple of points shy of going on a deep playoff run in D4T2. Playing eight three-set matches in a span of 72 hours has to be some kind of record!
Shujaa: A bit of a rough Day 1 for the team gave way to a 2-1 record on Day 2 and some momentum for the first round of the playoffs in D3T2. Unfortunately, the team fell short of the second round, dropping their pre-quarter match to Barrie Elites (20 and 20) and marking the end of a memorable season for the squad.
Congratulations to all of our 15U teams for providing us with some inspired volleyball to close out the season.
To all of our Lakeside 2023-24 players, parents, parent reps, coaches, managers and supporters – thank you for a great year. We appreciate your time, effort, and everything in between for making each season possible.
Up Next: Rest…and then Spring and Summer training!!
