Our 14U (TLS) teams were in action over the weekend with some fantastic results. In total, five Lakeside teams took to the courts in Niagara, Oakville and Newmarket, with two medals secured. Here is a rundown of the action:

Mambele (Select): Mambele started their Sunday with a split of their morning matches and a second-place finish in pool play. The girls made quick work of their opponents in both the quarters and semis, setting up a rematch with Georgetown (from morning pool play). The team was pushed to three sets but won the third set convincingly to secure the gold medal and a spot in Premier for the Bugarski Cup. Congrats team!

Silaha (Trillium): Silaha swept their morning matches and entered the afternoon playoff round as top team from Pool C. A three set victory in quarters set Silaha up for two shots at a medal on the day. After a tough semi-final loss to the eventual silver medallists, Silaha ended their tournament on a high note, claiming a straight sets victory and Bronze medal for their efforts.

Nimcha (Championship): A couple of solid morning matches set the team up for a pre-quarter final versus local rival EVP Strike. Nimcha took the pre-quarter in two straight, but fell in a tight three-set match in the quarters. In the 5/7 match, Nimcha fought hard but fell to Jr. Gryphons to finish the day in 7th.

Kascara (Championship): A somewhat underwhelming performance in morning pool play saw the team finish third in their pool. In the quarter finals, the girls sprung to life but could not sustain enough to secure victory. In the 9th place match, Kascara slipped back into their pool play form, falling in three sets and ending the day in 9th place.

13U Assegai (Trillium): Participating in their first 14U event of the season, the team finished pool play in third place. In the pre-quarters, two competitive set losses (25-27, 26-28) was followed up by an even closer three set loss in the 9th place match (19-25, 26-24, 13-15). A great showing overall by the team playing up a division.
