14U Provincial Cup Action and Results

11/17/2025by LVC0

Our 14U teams hit the OVA courts this weekend and kept our medal streak alive — three weeks and counting!

Here’s a quick rundown of the action:

Assegai (Trillium)

Assegai travelled to Simcoe, ON, for the TLS Provincial Cup and made quick work of their opponents in the morning matches. Finishing as the top seed in Pool B, the girls faced MVC Whitecaps in the quarterfinals and won convincingly (24, 10) to advance to the semis.

The semifinal round was a tougher battle, but the team pushed through for a 2–1 win, earning their place in the gold medal match against Milton Edge Iron. After dropping the first set, the girls dug in, battled back, and secured a three-set victory — their first medal of the season, and an impressive one at that. Congratulations, team!

Isihlangu (Select)

Competing in the top tier for their first OVA tournament of the year, Isihlangu faced strong opponents in the morning, narrowly dropping both matches in third sets (vs. Humana Heat and Pakmen Gold Jeff).

In the pre-quarter, the Ishies regrouped and handled business in straight sets against 6UP Liberty, earning a spot in the quarterfinals. There, they met the top-seeded Titans Omega and battled hard but fell in two sets, moving them into the 5th/7th placement match.

Facing Georgetown Impact, the girls took a tight first set 28–26 but couldn’t close the match in two. They ultimately fell in three sets, finishing 7th overall.

Shambulio (Championship)

Shambulio made the trek down Hwy 401 to Windsor for their first OVA event of the season. After a tough morning in pool play, the team met Chatham Ballhawks Fly in the pre-quarters. A back-and-forth match ended with a third-set win for Shambulio, sending them to the quarterfinals against the top-seeded Ballhawks Soar.

A strong first set win was followed by a narrow 23–25 loss in the second, forcing a deciding set. Soar ultimately outlasted Shambulio, sending our girls to the 5th/7th match. In their final match of the day, they pushed Hurricanes to three sets but couldn’t pull out the win, finishing 7th on the day.

Kitara (Trillium)

Competing close to home at Notre Dame CHS in Burlington, Kitara split their morning matches and finished second in their pool.

The quarterfinals saw the girls come out firing, sweeping Waterloo Tigers in straight sets. Their semifinal match against Impact Dig was competitive throughout, but Kitara fell in two tight sets.

In the bronze medal match vs. Venom Copperheads, a close first-set loss was followed by a thrilling 28–26 win to force a third set. The final set was neck-and-neck, but Kitara came up just short, falling 13–15 and just missing the podium to take 4th place.

Congratulations to all of our 14U teams on an exciting and competitive start to the OVA season!
