After two months in lockdown, the Town of Oakville has re-opened their Recreation Centers for organized activities and team sports training.
With Halton Region being placed in the Control Red zone within the COVID Response Framework, our club and teams are once again permitted to train in small groups (10 players, one coach and one trainer, as per Town regulations). With only one Lakeside team participating in any sort of game play since the start of the 2020-21 indoor season, we look forward to the opportunity to play some games with local clubs once we hit the Restrict Orange zone in the coming weeks (fingers crossed) however, for the time being, we will accept the fact that we can only train at the moment and be happy that we are back in the gyms teaching and playing the game we love.
SUMMER PROGRAMS ARE COMING!
With all of the uncertainty still surrounding group activities in indoor and outdoor settings for months to come, families are left wondering if they should be signing their kids up for summer programming. Stay away camps, day camps and the like all have huge question marks around them for the upcoming summer break but this won't stop us from planning our summer full of grass court and beach training, team and private training, and hopefully some tournament play either in surrounding parks or on the OVA beach tour. Our kids need to get out and stay active, and Lakeside will be ready to provide the outlet at whatever level we are permitted to run our programs.
Dates, times and locations are being organized and we will look to publish our programs early in March so that interested parents and athletes can work out what activities they want to participate in this summer.
Check back in next week for further updates.
We look forward to seeing or kids back at training this week, as well as throughout the summer under the sun!
