Our four 14U teams and our 13U Assegai squad finally got their time on an OVA court over the past weekend. Here are the results:
14U
Mambele: Hosted a Select Division tournament at Loyola (Oakville). The team never found their groove in pool play but managed to pull out a win in the afternoon matches to take home 6th place. Another Select tournament is on tap for the team in a few weeks.
Kascara: Going 1-1 in morning pool play, the team won their Championship division quarter final match to set up two shots at a medal. A tough loss to the Titans took some wind out of the sails, which resulted in a 4th place finish. The team looks to improve on their result in December at the Challenge Cup.
Nimcha: Ranked seventh entering their Trillium tournament, the team swept morning pool play and cruised through their quarter final. In the semis, the team fought from behind to force a third set but came up a couple of points short. Overcoming their tough semi loss, the team took home bronze after knocking off Barrie Elites in three sets. Congrats to Nimcha on earning your first OVA hardware of the season!
SIlaha: A slow start to the day lead to a win in the pre-quarter vs. Steel City. The team was overpowered in the quarter versus the top seed in the tournament but ended the day with a convincing win in their final tilt to secure a 5th place finish in Trillium.
13U
Assegai: The girls hosted a Sunday Trillium tournament in Oakville and went 1-1 in pool play. Their quarter final did not go their way as Markham Revolution squeaked out two close sets to move on. A 7th place finish was secured by the team when the event was all said and done.
A great job by all teams that participated this weekend. We look forward to the Challenge Cup in a few short weeks.
