OVA Tournament Season Is Here!

–

It was a busy weekend for Lakeside Volleyball Club, with six teams competing in 17U OVA Provincial Cup tournaments across Ontario on October 31 and November 1.

Our teams faced tough competition, battled through challenging matches, and came away with some impressive results — including a bronze-medal finish for 17U Inkemba and top-five finishes for 16U Silaha and 16U Nimcha.

16U Mambele – 7th Place | Championship Division

Mambele faced a challenging Championship division. They pushed Georgetown Impact Eclipse to three sets in their opening match before taking on Smash Raiders Attack. Despite coming up short in both matches, Mambele finished seventh overall.

17U Inkemba – 3rd Place | Trillium White Division

Inkemba earned a bronze-medal finish after a strong day of competition. They opened with a straight-set win over a fellow Lakeside team (16 Nimcha), then faced a tough matchup against eventual tournament champions T-West Condors. Inkemba responded with a convincing straight-set victory over Toronto Thunderbolts Smash Peter to secure third place.

16U Nimcha – 5th Place | Trillium White Division

Nimcha dropped a tight quarter final playoff match to Inkemba. They finished the day with a hard-fought three-set victory over EVP Eagles Lockdown to place fifth for the tournament.

16U Silaha – 4th Place | Trillium Green Division

Silaha got off to a great start with a straight-set victory over Niagara Rapids Rebels. They then pushed Simcoe Xtreme Shockwave to three sets in a closely contested match but came up a bit short. The team faced Waterloo Tigers Attack for the bronze but ultimately could not squeak out a medal.

17U Cimpaba – 6th Place | Trillium Green Division

After a difficult quarter final match against PVC Rebel Rain, Cimpaba showed resilience with a comeback three-set victory over Niagara Rapids Force. They finished the tournament with a matchup against Vaughan Legends Sapphire, placing sixth overall.

17U Shotel – 11th Place | Trillium Green Division

Competing on Sunday, Shotel battled hard in their pre-quarter playoff match against Stratford Stingers Force, narrowly losing the deciding set 14–16. They followed with a match against London Fire Flare but fell in two straight sets to finish the day in 11th place.

UP NEXT:  A lot of OVA tournament action coming up next weekend (Nov 7 & 8) with 16U and 18U Girls events running across the Province. The Fall Classic for 16U D1/D2 and 18UG divisions will take place in Ottawa, while the rest of the teams competing in these two age groups will make their way to their regional events to square off with the competition in their first events of the season. Good luck to all Lakeside teams competing next weekend!
